Servicing the Front Range communities of Colorado, A Walk to Remember is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization focusing on bereavement care resources and support for those touched by all types of infant loss, including pregnancy loss, miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or SIDS.
In years past Walk to Remember has regularly held the annual memorial walk on the second Saturday of October to coincide with Infant Loss Awareness Month. In 2012, in response to your feedback, we have decided to move the Walk date up in hopes of better weather. This year's annual memorial walk will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012, leading up to the start of October and Infant Loss Awareness month. We hope that you will be able to join us that day to honor and remember so many babies lost too soon.
Over 1000 people participated and almost 350 babies were honored and remembered on October 8, 2011 at our annual Walk to Remember. It was a cold but beautiful day as many families and friends came together to walk in honor of so many. Thank you to Andrea Janke at Precious Poses Photography for taking such beautiful pictures of this special day!
November 5, 2011- Littleton, CO – Walk to Remember (WTR) hosted its final Bereavement Care Package Assembly Day of the year on November 5th. Over 20 volunteers gathered to assemble 150 Bereavement Care Packages to be distributed to Colorado hospitals. The final round of packages will brought the total to over 800 delivered packages for 2011, almost doubling the number of packages delivered in the previous year.
No one is prepared to experience the death of their baby and WTR’s Bereavement Care Packages bring support and comfort to grieving families. The death of a baby is a tragic event that often impairs the decision-making ability of parents. WTR’s Care Packages gently guide families through this difficult time by providing support resources and suggestions of how to preserve the memory of their baby. Included in WTR’s Care Packages are tools for creating keepsakes from which to remember their baby, such as a camera to take photos with their baby and a teddy bear to hold with their child then bring home as a comforting memento. Additionally, other parents who have been down this path of grief give advice about how to cope and thoughts about what types of things they wish they had done to preserve the memory of their baby.
WTR currently distributes Bereavement Care Packages to 28 Front Range and High Country hospitals in Colorado. WTR strives to expand the Bereavement Care Package Program to include all labor and delivery and neo-natal units in Colorado hospitals by 2013.
WTR is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization that provides bereavement care resources to parents who have faced the death of a baby due to pregnancy loss, miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or SIDS. The majority of funds raised by WTR support the Bereavement Care Package Program which provides support, advice and resources for parents.
Thank you to everyone who supports us and helps to make this possible!
