Dear Walk to Remember Supporters:

What a remarkable year this has been for Walk to Remember! It’s hard to believe we only started this undertaking in May of 2008. We are so proud of how far we have come, how many people we have met that have been touched by the walk and how many bereaved parents we have been able to help.

We are humbled at the more than 235 babies we honored this past October along with the over 500 bereaved parents, family and friends. It was a cold & rainy day, made beautiful by the remembrances shared and by the good that was done. If you missed the walk or want to see footage of the event please watch a stunning documentary created by Liz Maestas, an Art Institute of Colorado Film Student and sister of a bereaved parent.

The funds raised from registration and the silent auction have already created 300 care packages and we are ready to assemble more when the hospitals call on us. Almost 15 hospitals were given care packages including Presbyterian/St. Luke’s, Littleton, Boulder Community Hospital and the Medical Center of Aurora. We have equaled the amount of Bereavement Care Packages delivered in past years and are determined to expand to other hospitals within the next year.

Our Sponsor –A-Care-Package drive has been a success as well and has added a new way to honor our beloved children. By donating a care package in your child’s name you can help other bereaved parents know that they are not alone. If you haven’t had a chance to sponsor a care package, please consider doing so as the drive will be over January 31, 2009.

Lastly, in an effort to expand A Walk to Remember’s programs to include education of medical staff in bereavement care we are looking for a new board member. We have posted a job posting here.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Board of A Walk to Remember
