Communications Director, Board of Directors

Description
Will serve as copy writer and source of information, along with Media Director, for WTR to provide consistent and accurate content to WTR constituents, press and other outlets as requested.

Position Duties and Responsibilities
• Must have exceptional oral and written communication proficiency, attention to detail and possess strong organizational skills.
• Will have a background in composing copy.
• Will manage communications to constituents via Constant Contact including:
o Quarterly Newsletter
o Regular email blasts regarding upcoming events
o Reminder emails to registered attendees for events
• Will work with Bereavement Resources Director to communicate with outside support organizations about upcoming WTR events.
• Will regularly update Constant Contact database with new email addresses from:
o Partnering agencies/organizations
o Sponsors
o Area hospitals/doctors
o New constituents
• Will maintain up to date printed Marketing materials.
• Will work with Media Relations Director on regular press releases.
• Will partner with Outreach Coordinator on Facebook and Twitter accounts blasts.
• Will partner with foundation Directors when appropriate.
• Attend regularly scheduled Board of Director Meetings (monthly, or bi-monthly).
• Assist with planning of Annual Walk (held in October).

The position will support WTR by:
• Serving as a spokesperson
• Working closely with other staff to foster teamwork and advance the mission, seeking to educate donors, volunteers and the public at large
about WTR’s mission
• Demonstrating creative problem solving skills

This is a volunteer position that reports to the President and works in tandem with the other Directors. Hours vary throughout the year, but range from about 5 hours a month to 10 hours a month depending on the goings on.
